This is a review from Amazon.com about product:
Remineral Mint Natural Tooth Powder + Naturally Sourced Hydroxyapatite - Plastic and Flouride Free (2 oz)

This is the first time using tooth powder, so I have no way to compare it to other powders and I'm not knowledgeable in terms of experience so take this review with a grain of salt.
It is a weird change. Tooth paste to powder, it is so different. When I started using sonic toothbrushes I was really impressed with how clean my teeth would feel. I used a manual with this of course, and once again, I was blown away with how clean my teeth felt, even more so than when I use my sonic brush.
The taste and consistency was weird. Not a turn off or anything, but it was just different and will take some getting used to. I definitely tasted the baking soda more than any other ingredient, but overall it was pleasant.
I've heard people rave about powder and how much better it can be for you than toothpaste. I can't confirm or deny that, I just started using it and can only go off of how it feels, and my teeth feel very clean!
I like it.
What Makes This Tooth Powder Special?
Gaia Guy's Remineralizing Mint Tooth Powder is a fluoride-free oral care product that uses natural ingredients to support enamel strength and overall dental health. The core formula includes natural hydroxyapatite (sustainably sourced from cattle bone), food-grade diatomaceous earth, xylitol, and baking soda. These components work together to clean teeth, remineralize enamel, and freshen breath without harsh chemicals.
Key Ingredients Explained
Hydroxyapatite is a form of calcium phosphate that naturally occurs in teeth and bones. When used in oral care, it helps rebuild and strengthen enamel by depositing minerals back into the tooth surface. This non-nano hydroxyapatite is fine enough to penetrate microscopic enamel pores, reducing sensitivity and preventing decay. Unlike fluoride, it is non-toxic if swallowed and safe for all ages.
Diatomaceous Earth (Food Grade) is a soft, siliceous sedimentary rock made from fossilized algae. In tooth powder, it acts as a gentle abrasive to remove plaque and surface stains without damaging enamel. Its high silica content also provides a polishing effect, leaving teeth smooth and clean. Food-grade quality ensures it is safe for oral use.
Xylitol is a natural sugar alcohol extracted from plants like birch or corn. It inhibits the growth of cavity-causing bacteria (Streptococcus mutans) by preventing them from sticking to teeth. Xylitol also stimulates saliva production, which helps remineralize enamel and neutralize acids.
Baking Soda (Sodium Bicarbonate) is a mild alkali that neutralizes oral acids, reducing the risk of enamel erosion and bad breath. Its fine grit provides gentle cleaning power while whitening teeth. Many users notice its distinct taste, as mentioned in the review, but it blends well with mint flavoring.
How to Use and What to Expect
Applying the powder is simple: wet your toothbrush, shake off excess water, dip the bristles directly into the powder, and brush as usual. The texture is different from paste—it can feel powdery at first but quickly foams with saliva. Users often report a "weird" transition period, but the clean feeling after brushing is remarkable. In one review, a first-time user was "blown away" by how clean their teeth felt—even cleaner than with a sonic toothbrush. The mint flavor is refreshing, though the baking soda taste may stand out initially.
Benefits Over Conventional Toothpaste
Many people switch to tooth powder to avoid common toothpaste additives like sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), artificial sweeteners, and excessive fluoride. This formula is SLS-free, glycerin-free, and packed in a plastic-free glass jar—eco-conscious and zero-waste. The remineralizing action supports long-term enamel health, while the natural ingredients suit those with sensitive gums or allergies. However, results vary; as with any new oral care product, give your mouth time to adjust.
Packaging and Brand Info
Gaia Guy packages this tooth powder in a 4-ounce glass jar, eliminating plastic waste. Made in the USA, the product is designed for daily use and has a shelf-stable formula. The brand emphasizes natural, sustainable sourcing and simplicity. Based on customer feedback (25 ratings, 3.9 stars), the powder is well-received for its cleaning ability and freshness.
Safety and Considerations
Because the powder contains baking soda, those with severe enamel wear or tooth sensitivity should use it cautiously and consult a dentist. The abrasive effect is mild, but over-brushing with any abrasive substance can harm enamel. Always brush gently with a soft-bristle brush. The hydroxyapatite and xylitol make it safe for children if supervised. Store the jar in a dry place to prevent clumping.
Summary
Gaia Guy's Remineralizing Mint Tooth Powder offers a natural, effective alternative to traditional toothpaste. Its blend of hydroxyapatite, diatomaceous earth, xylitol, and baking soda cleans deeply, remineralizes enamel, and leaves a fresh minty feel. The user experience highlights a surprisingly clean sensation—often surpassing electric toothbrushes. With eco-friendly packaging and a focus on oral health, this powder is a solid choice for anyone seeking a fluoride-free, plastic-free, and ingredient-transparent dental routine.
